Shit I liked in 2011 (TV)

If I could write my past self a letter telling them that future self watches TV shows, past self would weep for the future. Seriously, after X-Files ended, I gave not a fuck about TV for a long ass time. Not television programs, at least. I owe giving shows a chance again to Heroes. Yeah, that show blew its load all on the first season, but that was one hell of a first season. Anyway, the fact that I kept up with more than 3 shows in 2011 is pretty damn amazing to me.

I almost started this off with Season 4 of True Blood, but after I thought about it, I didn't really like that shit too much. Overall, it was a better season than 3, but that aint saying a lot. The shit has gotten lame. The only time it is even remotely good anymore is when Eric, Bill and Sookie aren't on fucking camera. They are annoying. However, Fiona Shaw churned out one helluva good performance as Marnie. Gah I hated that bitch, but it was played well. Her performance, Kristin Bauer and Deborah Ann Woll were the three best things about Season 4.

Also, I gave Death Valley a chance. I really did. Even kinda liked it at first. After 3 episodes I was done. Didn't care.

Television:

American Horror Story

Never, EVER expected to like this show. Before it came on, I saw "From the creators of Glee" on the poster and probably laughed or some shit... I don't remember. To be fair, I never really gave Glee a chance. I heard a song I liked get autotune raped one time, heard people calling themselves Gleeks, and said fuck this shit. I'm out. Anyway, I enjoyed the hell out of American Horror Story. Last episode didn't really go down the way I wanted it to, but the great thing about the show was that it surprised me so many damn times. Jessica Lange was a show stealer, Violet was an awesome character, Tate was cool, the Mom was annoying, The Dad was a douche that masturbated and cried, the Halloween episodes fucking ruled, the show was legit creepy, and Moira was fucking hot. The old woman Moira, of course.

Being Human (UK) Season 3

The poster I posted is about as fucking cheesy as it gets and does the show absolutely no justice at all. I was turned on to Being Human by Darker Than You Think early on in 2011, and was freakin' hooked right off the first episode. Everything True Blood does wrong, Being Human does right, and hell yes to werewolves looking like fucking werewolves. Great performances, great FX and it's strongly about the characters and not about how hot the characters are. I blasted through all 3 seasons this year, and it was all great. Gonna be interesting to see how Season 4 goes, for sure.

Dexter Season 6

Season 6 of Dexter pulled itself out of the pile of crap that Season 5 was right on the first episode. This show seems to be good every other year ever since Season 3. I don't think that Season 4 will ever be matched, but this new shit was really good. I was only disappointed by one episode; Nebraska. Shit was fucking stupid and pointless. But overall, Edward James Olmos and Colin Hanks were awesome, Jennifer Carpenter wasn't as annoying (she still was, just not as bad), Michael C Hall ruled, and the finale fucking killed. Season 7 is a long ways away...

Falling Skies

Can't help it; Falling Skies was pretty damn corny, but I couldn't get enough of it and cannot wait to see it return. Pretty similar to The Walking Dead, but with mood more like Sarah Connor Chronicles, which I also loved. I dig Noah Wyle, too.

The Killing

Really loved this too and went into it thinking I was gonna endure a lame ass cop drama. Nah, this shit was fantastic. Movie quality drama. Hell, better than a lot of films that came out in 2011. I know a lot of people were pissed at how it ended, and I wanna talk about it, but spoilers, so I'll just say I dug it. Can't wait until it returns.

The Walking Dead Season 2 (first half)

I'm definitely one of the few that has liked Season 2 thus far. I even realize there wasn't a lot of shit going; I didn't care. I just dig watching these characters fight and make up and fight and fuck and fuck each other over. Sure, the Darabont leaving shit is sad, but I think it's gonna be just fine. I never got bored once with the first half of season 2, and the finale of episode 6 was a fucking awesome payoff to the slow burning buildup. It's never once bothered me that it's different from the comic. That kind of shit has never really bothered me. I think they are fine as their own entities. Another one I can't wait to see come back on.

I think that's about it. I am behind as hell on Fringe, South Park, The Simpsons and don't give a shit about The Office anymore.
