Sorry it's been slow over here the last week and a half. I had full intentions of doing some love letter reviews for Joe Dante's Piranha and Alex Aja's remake before 3DD hits VOD this Friday. Ain't gonna happen, as those love letter reviews take a fuck load of time. I guess I can always do them after the fact. However, I will have some other stuff aside from what I'm about to do coming down the pipeline. Anyway, I was inspired by a recent blog from Thomas Bryce aka Shit Movie Fest to do a blog about SOME of my vinyl collection. Originally, this was gonna be a one shot thing, but after going through stuff, the idea became much bigger and I couldn't leave certain things out. So, I've decided to break it down into 4 parts. Now, before we get into this... some of these vinyls are not in the best shape. A lot of them were stuff I owned from when I was 4 years old. Some of them are hand-me-down stuff from my mother dating all the way back to the 1930s. Then, some of it belonged to my sister or one of her boyfriends. That will explain initials and names on the covers. I'll probably bring this up more than once in each of these 4 entries. Just lettin' ya know ahead of time.
We're gonna start out with some stuff from my way early years, as well as movie soundtrack stuff. Here we go:
Most images are GIFS so you can see the front and backs of the albums
- The Frosty albums
I can't tell you how many times I listened to these goddamn albums, and sometimes it was in the middle of the fucking summer that I would bust these bitches out and slap 'em up on my old school Mickey Mouse record player.
- The Snoopy albums
Same goes with these two. Listened to this shit religiously. The Snoopy VS. The Red Baron album is pretty damn good, honestly. Here's a taste-
- Disneyland- Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House & Snagglepuss and The Wizard of Oz
The Snagglepuss album is one of the few I decided it would be cool to black out the eyes of characters on. My only excuse is that I was a dumb little fucker. I'll tell you what when it comes to that Disney record, though... that shit used to scare the piss outta me. Here's a link to side 1...
- The Great Muppet Caper & The Lone Ranger
I listened to that Muppet album more than I ever saw the movie. Of course, I owned it long before our family had a VCR, if memory serves correct. And The Lone Ranger... fuck yes.
- Ghostbusters & A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
Now we're fuckin' talkin'! Both of these are gold from start to finish! Gonna post my favorite song from each one.
- Goldfinger & Purple Rain
I'm not the world's biggest 007 fan, but I'm not a hater, either. Connery and Brosnan are definitely my favorites. But what's important here is that I think it's pretty fucking cool to have the Goldfinger OST on vinyl. As far as Purple Rain goes, the only thing I remember is the soundtrack.
- The Aristocats
Still one of my favorite Disney movies.
- Heavy Metal
I still love everything about this fucking movie and its soundtrack. Cartoon tits and chicks fucking nerdy robots made me the weirdo piece of shit that I am today.
That's a wrap with part 1. Stay tuned for more!!!
